THE GRANTS/PRIZES:
Sunlight Green Clean grants are awarded based on submissions from across Canada. Grants will be awarded as follows:
- Two grants valued at $1,500 each
- Additional grants valued at either $250 or $500 each will be awarded to a maximum accumulated value of $47,000.
Grants must be accepted as awarded, no substitutions except at Sponsor’s option. Sponsor reserves the right to award fewer than two grants valued at $1,500 or an accumulated value of grants (valued at either $250 or $500) lower than $47,000, depending on the calibre of entries received. In such an event, Sponsor will place a notice as soon as practicable on this web site indicating that the grants cannot be allocated.
AWARDING OF GRANTS:
Submissions for the Sunlight Green Clean Kids grants will be reviewed by the Sponsor, by its eco advisors (representing Canadian environmental organizations) who will provide comments. The submissions will be evaluated by a panel of 10 Sunlight Green Clean Kids (hereby known as the judges). The following criteria will be used by the judges evaluate grant submissions:
- Simple – The idea should be easy to describe.
- Reproducible – If the idea works for one instance it should be easy to replicate with little or no modification.
- Scaleable – The relative costs of administering the idea should not change greatly as more and more people duplicate it.
- Innovative – The idea must demonstrate originality in its commitment to working toward a solution for an environmental cause.
- Effective – If successful, the idea should have a measurable impact on reducing our ecological footprint and should foster sustainable commerce.
- Inspirational – The idea should encourage or inspire others to reduce their ecological footprint.
The Sun Products Canada Corporation reserves the right to narrow down the pool of grant applicants based on the above criteria for the judging panel [10 Sunlight Green Clean Kids] to select the grant recipients. Odds of receiving a grant depend on the number and calibre of entries. All criteria will be weighed equally. In the event of a tie, the Essay with the highest score on effectiveness will be selected as a grant recipient. Essays that are not an original creation of the person submitting it, or which are illegal, defamatory or in any way obscene, all as determined solely by the Sponsor will be disqualified.
By accepting the grant, the grant recipient (and their parent/legal guardian if applicable) agrees that their Essay as is or as may be edited, may be published on the Sponsor's web site, used in brochures, quoted in advertisements or distributed with Sponsor’s products with or without the grant recipient’s name, without further compensation.
